Animations

Claire creates Animations both independently and in collaboration with other More Than Minutes Artists, using 2 different styles of Animation: Stop Frame and Speedy Drawing. Showreel 2018 below shows examples of both processes.

It is a useful medium for making information more accessible and engaging. Bringing a story or project to life through simple, colourful metaphors and visuals. It has been a natural extension of the Visual Minutes work, as clients explore different ways of communicating their messages.  

Claire has also been doing ‘Live Animation’ at conferences with artists from the More Than Minutes team. They capture sound bites from delegates on a particular theme and then do quick animation shorts for each one. This is all edited together and shown on the big screen at the summary section of the conference. See the Global Futures animation below as an example of this.

Clients include Manchester University, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, First Ark Housing Association, Locality and the Co-operative Group.

GSA Archives & Collections:

Stop Frame Animation for Glasgow School of Art (GSA) Archives and Collections in 2026. Having studied at GSA it was a special opportunity to get the commission to create this work.

Rain it in

Stop Frame Animation for Don Catchment Rivers Trust (DCRT) in 2026. With flooding increasing it explores what we can all do to help relieve the pressure.

Wildfish: Salmon

Stop Frame Animation for Wildfish in 2023. It aims to raise awareness about the plight of the North Atlantic Salmon and urges people to take action to help protect this incredible species.

Global Futures

Claire, James Munro & Siân McArthur created this animation live at a conference at the Whitworth Art Gallery in 2024. Recording voice pops of the speakers and creating accompanying visuals in situ in a pop up animation studio.

50% For The Future

Working together with Chris Murray and Siân McArthur, we made this Speedy Drawing Animation for Swansea University in 2025. It is part of an initiative to get more women into Mechanical Engineering.

DECIDE

These animations were commissioned as part of a research project about dementia between Newcastle University, University of Manchester and St Oswald’s Hospice, 2024-25.

Manchester University

Stop Frame Animation for the School of Social Sciences in 2024, visualising research focussing on human life stages. It was commissioned by Manchester University as part of their 200 year celebrations.

Calico

This Stop Frame Animation, “The heART of connection”, was commissioned by Calico group for an internal video about self awareness in 2023.

Wild about Devon

Claire collaborated with Chris Murray to create this Animation for Devon Council in 2021. It encourages communities to take action for wildlife and help tackle the Ecological and Climate Emergencies.

Step up to Swansea

Speedy Drawing Animation commissioned by Swansea University in 2020 to promote their Step Up to Swansea programme. There are 2 versions, in English and in Welsh.

Nutrition

Claire made this campaign Animation for Changing Markets in 2019, about food fortification in Mexico. There are both English and Spanish versions of this work. Script by Matt Cook.

Flood Incident Management

This Stop Frame (with a little Speedy Drawing) Animation was created for the Environment Agency in 2018 for their Flood Incident Management Plan, about Building Stronger Resilience to Flooding in our communities. 

Patient Safety

Claire worked together with Holly Langley and Chris Murray to create this Animation for NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) in 2016. It is mainly Stop Frame, with a little Speedy Drawing for titles. 

Smarter Thinking

Claire collaborated with Rowan Watts to produce this Speedy Drawing Animation for Staffordshire University in 2019.

Knowledge Management

Working together with James Munro and Holly Langley, we made this Stop Frame Animation for the Environment Agency in 2016.

Locality Toolkits

James Munro did the first 2 Animations in this series, and Claire and Chris Murray collaborated on Toolkits 3 and 4. They are both Stop Frame Animations made for Locality in 2016.
