The Artist
Claire is a self employed artist, currently based in Liverpool. She is highly motivated and committed to the continual development of her art work and creativity.
She studied Painting at Glasgow School of Art (GSA) and graduated in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art.

Claire is currently working on new drawings, printmaking and paintings for an exhibition at the Unity Theatre in April 2014. Click here for further details. The inspiration for the work has come from listening to music created by Andy Muir, who lives and works in Berlin. One track in particular, 'Bird Dub', led to Claire drawing birds, whilst listening to the music; letting the rhythms of the tune bring out the patterns in the flight.

Claire's work varies from day to day, and moves between the following areas:

Public and Community Art
Claire regularly works as a Freelance Artist for inspiring community focused companies including Liverpool Lantern Company, Walk the Plank and Wild in Art.
Claire has worked with these companies on major cultural events including 08 Liverpool Capital of Culture and the Manchester Day Parade. She has worked as an Artist & Designer, whilst also holding the role of Project Manager.
She has extensive workshop experience with local community and school groups. She has facilitated workshops in Lantern Making, Carnival Costumes, Illustration, Mask Making, Puppet Making, Circus Skills and Visual Minutes. The Workshops have been with a variety of ages and abilities, and have ranged from one hour long to month long intensive projects.

Visual Minutes
Visual Minutes is a live, artistic representation of meetings, events, conferences and debates. Claire was trained in this art form in 2007 and often works as part of the Visual Minutes collective Creative Connection. They were Artists in Residence at the Southbank Centre, London, from June 2008 - July 2009. Clients include: The Eden Project, BBC, NHS, Primary Care Trusts, BT and Creative Partnerships. In June 2008 Claire went to Aruba to take Visual Minutes at meetings regarding the future sustainable development of the island and to run workshops training local artists in the art form. During December 2009 – January 2010, Claire was an Artist in Residence, taking Visual Minutes for Tata Jagriti Yatra; an 18 day Train Journey round India, covering more than 9000 km, which inspires young Indian people to become Social Entrepreneurs.


Claire project managed, and was an Artist within the team designing the Map for ‘Liverpool Discovers’, the Wild in Art event in February 2011. Liverpool City Council commissioned the team to create the Map with a view to it becoming the new tourist map of Liverpool. It is a colourful, vibrant, illustrated and functional map. Claire has also collaborated with James Munro, illustrating some posters for The Eden Project. These were for the ‘Big Lunch’ event and ‘Sustainable Schools’ initiative.

Claire has completed a number of private commissions as well as some more public work, including commissions of text work for the Southbank Centre.
The most recent commission was making a Giant Snake Puppet and Giant Snake Charmer with Julian Taylor for the Manchester Mega Mela festival 2013
